What others have said about the SAFETALK game

Several companies around the world have already played the game or are in the process of trying it out. Below you can read briefly about what other companies have said about the dialogue game and about finally being able to do things in a new way. We have been allowed to proudly pass on the participants' experiences from the day, and the following is a selection from the companies.

Ultraship tells “For us, SAFETALK is like the glue that links a “daily job” with our “Safety Culture”. It’s interesting to see how a Situation Card triggers the knowledge sharing among the crew and how they relate the situation to a hot topic.

The exchange of ideas is a great opportunity to identify at an early stage any unsafe situation, which is one of our main focus areas (to improve Safety Reporting). It’s important to mention that the Office is NOT participating in the game, so the Crew can talk openly.

Also, we try to keep it simple, NO additional reports, our Crews only insert a text in the monthly Safety Meeting, and if applicable, they will use the existing reporting channels (Best Practice, unsafe condition/act, Near Miss, etc.).

Furthermore, SAFETALK provides a relaxed environment where all opinions are equally valid (regardless of the rank), and thus helps to create a better communication”

“I was first curious of course what it’s all about? But along the game it was fun, motivating, educational. It was good that everyone could be heard” - 2nd Officer

“It is not easy to engage in the discussion with the different ideas, but by applying this safetalk dialogue, it can create a proper discussion on both parties how to handle safety/job” - 2nd Engineer

“It will enhance the crew to engage, coordinate and be openminded to their co-workers It will motivate the crew to be more pro-active in all aspects” - Master
